Which links these are

Affiliate links appear in a box marked Shopping list on some guides to supplies and tools. They go to Amazon search results for the kind of item the guide describes — a needle gauge, a wool breed, a type of soap — rather than to one particular product, so you can compare listings against what the guide says to look for.

Every affiliate link is marked as sponsored in the page code, which tells search engines it is a paid link. Links to other pages on this site, and to other websites in the body of an article, are ordinary links and earn nothing.

How this affects recommendations

Commissions never decide what we recommend. The guides were written before any affiliate link existed, and advice to skip something, use what you already own or buy it second-hand stays in the text whether or not it costs us a sale. We have not tested the individual listings Amazon shows, and we do not claim to have.
